Camaraderie-Isabelle Falardeau

chinookproject

This photo captures the last day of our Nain clinic when we had the opportunity to enjoy some fresh air and appreciate the raw, desolate mountain landscape. The past few days had been a whirlwind. We worked long days, gained valuable experience and stepped outside of our comfort zones and for the first time in four days I had some quiet time to reflect on our journey. I couldn’t help but look at my teammates and feel incredibly thankful for the unique chemistry that had developed so rapidly in a group.

As we approached the top of our first hike, I took a step back to record video footage for my project. I ended up capturing this picture, which for me, represented perfectly what I felt over the past week. The bareness of the surroundings mimicked the extreme isolation of this community. You can almost feel the crisp air and frigid winds from the different shades of grey in the sky and the moss lying upon the rocks. The individual bright colours on each of my teammates reflected perfectly our dynamics and the positive impact each and every single one of them had on my trip. Everyone was focused and enjoying the moment while conveying their own strengths and personalities. In this moment, I was filled with appreciation for the camaraderie and unforgettable experience I had the privilege of sharing with this group.
